Sean Slater is the son of Brian and Jean Slater, brother of Stacey and ex-husband of Roxy Mitchell. He made his first appearance on 22 August 2006 and final appearance on 7 April 2022.

Storylines[]

1983-2006: Backstory[]

Sean was born on Christmas Day 1983 to parents, Brian and Jean Slater and eleven years later Sean's younger sister, Stacey was born. Sean seemed to have a happy childhood with loving parents according to Jean he was a lover of football it was only until Sean hit his teenage years that things started to go down hill in his family life, by the age of fifteen Sean discovered that Brian had been leading a double life and as a result punches Brian which causes Brian to have a Brain Haemorrhage and die after Sean killed Brian he couldn't live with guilt and after finding out Jean had Bi Polar on his sixteenth birthday Sean decides to flee from home to which he later joins the Army.

2006: Arrival[]

Sean arrives in August 2006 where he is seen following a guy named Al, Sean follows Al around Walford and breaks into his flat he eventually tracks Al down in The Queen Vic but his plan is put in pause when he bumps into his younger sister, Stacey Slater. whom he had been estranged from six years Stacey is excited and happy too see Sean who thinks Sean came to track her down which is far from the truth both Charlie and Mo are shocked to see Sean just as much as Stacey. Stacey breaks down in front of Sean to which he comforts her the two somewhat chat up however Stacey's delight and excitement turns to anger towards Sean for leaving and states their dad had only been dead for three weeks and she woke up Christmas morning in 1999 and Sean was gone. Sean angrily blames his mother Jean Slater for him departing due to her Bipolar and that he cannot handle it this makes Stacey disgusted and tells Sean to leave Charlie tells Sean he can stay to which Sean agrees, Ruby Allen comforts a upset Stacey who tells Ruby that Sean will be gone by the morning. after reuniting with Stacey Sean prepares to go back after Al and leaves in the middle of the night which Stacey is seen awake and lead to believe Sean has left yet again.

Sean goes to the outside of Al's flat and purposely leans on Al's car to which Al angrily tells him to move away from his car however Al is shocked to know that the person is Sean, Al invites Sean into his flat where Sean is seen looking around and talking about Army life while Al seems on edge with his replies to Sean being blunt and short answered, Sean reveals to Al that he was that he stayed at Al's mum and dads and tells Al they did his head in eventually as the catch up goes on the on edge Al goes and Sean gets a tad impatient and its revealed that Al shot Sean in the back nearly killing him during a operation in the Army this nearly killed Sean, Al did this due to the fact he had suspicions Sean had slept with a girlfriend Al had at the time, despite being nearly killed Sean purposely told to Sargents that he had no idea who it was and punched one of them to be discharged from the Army. Al decides to try and attack Sean but Sean manages to headbutt Al and tie him up, Sean takes Al to a secluded area where he hangs Al by his feet tied to a rope off a tree Sean tells Al he had it all planned and he actually came to Walford to kill him but luckily for him something came up and that he wants to stay Sean then threatens Al that if he ever returns to Walford he will kill him by 'hanging him the right way round'. Stacey is pleased to see Sean has actually stuck around and is further pleased that he will be sticking around.

Sean is not long stirring the pot when he settles in as he flirts with Tanya Branning and kisses her the next day her husband Max is seen being wound up by Sean at first Max isn't too bothered but as the confrontation goes on Max eventually attempts to attack Sean however Sean is quick to the mark but before things can go any further the altercation is then split up by Phil Mitchell who orders Sean to leave The Vic. a couple of week pass since Sean has moved into the Slater house and Charlie gets on his case to find a job to pay his way Sean is uncooperative and smug towards Charlie who fires back, Ruby also shows a interest in Sean who at first is not in the slightest bit interested in Ruby but as Charlie urges Sean to find work and pay his way Stacey let's slip that Ruby also pays her way despite having millions and being able to buy the house outright revealing to Sean that Ruby is a millionaire air this gives Sean a reason and he starts to now take 'interest' in Ruby and she gives him a job in the nightclub she runs, Jake Moon takes issue with this however Ruby sets him straight by telling him that she's the boss Sean begins a relationship with Ruby and enters a feud with Jake who sees right through Sean's true nature of using Ruby despite Jake having telling Ruby of Sean's motive of being with her Sean manages to manipulate Ruby that he (Jake) is just looking out for her each time he expresses his concern, Sean begins to torment Jake by breaking into his flat and rearranging his furniture and prank calls Jake clicks on its Sean but he can't prove it Jake eventually snaps when Sean breaks into his house and puts a blow up doll with a grey wig in Jake's bed making it look as though it is Jake's deceased Nan, Nana Moon. Jake tells everything to Pat Evans what Sean is doing and Pat is dismissive this angers Jake and he punches Sean to which Sean punches Jake back after the fight with Jake, Ruby let slip that Jake killed his brother, Danny Moon. Sean uses this to continue his torment of Jake and breaks into his house where he reveals he knows he killed Danny, Jake is taken aback and eventually contacts, Ruby's father, Johnny Allen. Jake tells Johnny of everything Sean is up to with Ruby and Johnny orders Jake to get Sean to visit him Sean at first is against the idea but after Jake calls him out on being scared since Jake told Sean that Johnny is a dangerous gangster who has killed multiple people Sean decides to visit Johnny.

Sean visits Johnny in prison where he mocks him Johnny is soon threatening Sean that he will get him killed if he does not break up with Ruby, Sean then taunts Johnny that his fearsome days are over and his a nobody as his all banged up inside as Sean continues to taunt Johnny, Johnny gets angrier and angrier and even grabs Sean to which Johnny orders Sean to be killed, Johnny has a heart attack due to the anger he has towards Sean and state over the phone "Jake, kill him for me" Johnny dies in Hospital and two heavies arrives for Jake as Sean comforts Ruby. Jake's fate is unknown even to this day. after Jake's departure and Johnny's death they seems to be nothing in Sean's way for taking Ruby for every penny she has but this does not stop Sean sleeping with beautician Preeti Choraria. Stacey tells Ruby about Sean sleeping with Preeti but she blames the fact it was because she was away. Sean starts to become sick of Ruby and her none stop constantly talking about the wedding Sean eventually flips and tells Ruby the wedding is off devastating her. Ruby blames Stacey and as revenge tells Jean that Sean is back Sean and Jean later have a emotional reunion Ruby later tells Sean to choose between her and Stacey and she will give him everything she has however Sean throws Johnny's ashes in her face telling her to leave to which she does. After leaving Sean goes jobless again and decide to spend Christmas away.

2007: Feud with Max Branning and 'love' triangle[]

Sean turns his attentions back to Tanya in the turn of the new year often classing with Max at every opportunity he has unaware Max is sleeping with Stacey. Sean would try his best to show Tanya that she's too good for Max and tells Max he will eventually slip up and he will comfort Tanya. Sean rightly suspects Max of having a affair by March however Sean is made to look silly when he tries to prove this to Tanya not long after this Sean decides to go for a holiday away from Walford but returns in late May. Upon on his return Sean bags a job in The Vic and then turns his attention to one of Tanya's beauticians, Chelsea Fox and her step sister Carly Wicks, Sean often played the two off each other and loved the fact he made both jealous of one another out of the two of them Sean seemed more interested in Carly more while out of Carly and Chelsea, Chelsea was more obsessed with Sean, Sean begins to somewhat start a mini feud with Carly's brother, Dean Wicks after months of sleeping with the two girls and playing with their feelings Dean and Chelsea try their best to get Sean to expose he true self and nearly succeed however this does not work, Sean eventually has a confrontation between Yolande and Patrick Trueman and nearly attacks Patrick but is stopped by Stacey. Sean later breaks down to Carly about the rage he wakes up and feels since leaving the Army later Patrick is attacked by a unknown assailant and the residents think it was Sean giving the confrontation he had with Patrick earlier, Sean finds Patrick and attempts to help him but panics and flees with Patrick's blood on him the Police lock down Walford and look for Sean who hides and avoids the police for some time, Gus Smith bumps into Sean during his job and Sean threatens Gus not to say anything and smashes his phone however Gus still tells the Police that he encountered Sean, Sean eventually takes chase and is caught and the residents of Walford are pleased why the Slaters are both disgusted in Sean but still defensive in his name and a smug Ian Beale even compares Sean to, Trevor Morgan who is from the same family and had a equally bad temper. Sean is questioned by the Police but denies attacking Patrick the Police woman asks Sean if he never did attack Patrick then why did he run to which he replies he panicked. Chelsea sees this as a opportunity for revenge on Sean and tells Dean they should tell the Police that they saw Sean attack Patrick which was far from the truth due to their statements Sean is charged with attempted murder and as his taken away and remanded he sees Dean and Chelsea and flips and attempts to attack them but is stopped by the Police as Sean is being pulled away he threatens to kill them.

Sean spends six weeks in Prison during that time it's revealed to be the bad boy boyfriend of Lucy Beale, Craig Dixon who attacked Patrick. Carly finds the CCTV footage that proves Sean's innocents and despite knowing it would land her brother Dean in major trouble Carly hands to footage to the Police and Sean is released from prison and Craig is eventually arrested and charged while Dean and Chelsea are charged with preventing the course of justice however they are bailed till a court date and in that time Sean plans to exact revenge on the pair first he beats up Dean more then once and he cuts Chelsea's hair while she was asleep this prompts Dean's father Kevin Wicks to plea with Sean not to harm Dean or Chelsea at first Kevin thinks his got through to Sean however when ringing Dean he discover Sean has got to Dean and attacked him Kevin threatens Sean but Sean calls it bluff after weeks of tormenting Dean and Chelsea the Sean is delighted when the two of them are finally sentenced for three months each.

Sean in the midst of everything still does his best to seduce Tanya and wind up Max and by late October, Sean discovers of Stacey and Max's affair being the first person to do so Sean angrily confronts Max the next day and when Max does his best to deny sleeping with Stacey, Sean punches Max and threatens to tell Tanya but Stacey reminds Sean he owns it to her not to tell her soon husband to be, Bradley Branning. who is in fact Max's son. Sean agrees to not say anything about the affair and threatens Max the day after the wedding before leaving Walford for some weeks. Sean returns in the week leading up to and is part of the Slater/Branning joint Christmas around Max and Tanya's however the affair is finally revealed after the video footage was planted by Max's older daughter Lauren Branning whom was the second person to discover the affair. the video show Stacey and Max kissing this leads to everything being exposed and Sean comforts Tanya leading up to the New Year.

2008-2009: Drug dealing, Tanya and Roxy romances[]

At the very start of 2008 after being attacked by a revengeful Dean and Stacey has a bad reaction to drugs, Sean eventually begins to grow closer with Tanya and his feelings become stronger towards her and eventually Sean confesses to killing his father to Tanya which shocks her. Max later becomes more dismissive of Tanya stopping him from seeing the kids and continuously threatens her this makes Tanya get in a relationship with Sean and have him help her get rid of him the two plan for some weeks to have Max buried alive something Max's own father, Jim Branning had done to Max when he was a child Sean goes along with Tanya's plan but gets frustrated when she suggest that she has to pretend that she falls back in love with Max eventually by March Tanya put a plan into the two bury Max alive after drugging him however unlike Sean, Tanya has a change of heart and digs Max back up and call it a truce Sean is angry by this and Tanya calls of their relationship and threatens Sean she will tell Stacey the truth about how their father died this messes with Sean but he backs off.

Sean begins to sleep with Roxy Mitchell after the two constantly flirt with one another Sean also begins to turn on his flat mate Gus Smith and decides not to pay any rent towards the flat Gus does his best to get Sean out of the flat but he has no luck in doing so and eventually gets the locks changed however this does not stop Sean from breaking and and physically throwing out Gus and threatens him into still paying the rent, during this time Sean is seen dealing drugs and sleeps with Gus's girlfriend Keisha as revenge Gus tells Roxy and outs Sean to his family when he show them that his been dealing Cocaine.

Sean goes on somewhat of a downward spiral he attacks people for little to no reason people like Ian Beale, Mickey and Darren Miller and having a number of confrontations with the likes of Phil Mitchell, Max and Jack Branning and Jase Dyer. Sean discovers that Tanya is seeing Jack and as a result Sean punches Jack and a fight breaks out however Roxy's sister, Ronnie Mitchell reveals Roxy is pregnant to which Sean isn't happy about and even takes his anger out in his own mother by kidnapping her and mistakenly taken her to the place his father died however Sean alone with Ronnie was unaware that Roxy had also slept with Jack. Sean makes the assumption that his the father and vows to be there for the baby weather Roxy or The Mitchell's like it or not Roxy however at first tells Sean the baby isn't his, Sean the leaves Albert Square and later returns and confesses his love for Roxy after tracking her down in Waymouth at her father, Archie Mitchell's home the two rekindle their relationship and Roxy tells Sean that his the father and he vows to look after them both but Ronnie does her best to split them up as she sees Sean too dangerous for Roxy and Ronnie goads Sean into hitting her and Roxy sees however Roxy sees right through Ronnie's plan later Sean asks Roxy to marry him to which she accepts at first Sean was against Jean being at the wedding but agrees to eventually let her come. Ronnie discovers on the day of the wedding that Roxy is marrying Sean and does her best to showboat it however this fails and Ronnie eventually accepts them as a couple. the next few months Sean sees his best to turn his life around but Archie interferes and the two begin a feud. Amy is born in November and despite Archie doing his best to make it as so Sean wasn't Interested Roxy forgives Sean thanks to Ronnie helping Sean. Sean and Roxy seem happy as soon as Amy is born however on Christmas Day Archie along with the gold digger Suzy Branning plants the DNA results that Sean is in fact not Amy's father that would be Jack. Sean discovers this and angrily confronts Roxy and not long clicks on Jack is the father, Sean takes things to the next level when he kidnaps Amy and flees Walford leaving Albert Square, The Mitchell's call the Police but they are unable to track down Sean as are Phil and Jack. Jean meets Sean and helps him later Sean rings Stacey on New Years day and she gives her back to the Mitchell's. Sean later confronts Jack then Roxy before 'rekindling' with Roxy but unaware to Roxy, Sean is planning on killing her and Amy in a murder suicide Jack tells Ronnie they have to track down Sean before he kill Roxy the do after Roxy sneakily rings Ronnie. As they show up Roxy fools Sean into kiss where she manages to free of the car and runs onto the icy lake as Ronnie and Jack retrieve Amy from the car, Sean follows Roxy on the icy and they seem to forgive each other however the Ice break and Sean and Roxy fall into the frozen lake Ronnie saves Roxy but Sean rescues himself Sean seems set to stay but Roxy tells him to go to which Sean walks away into the dark forest and is not seen until ten years later in April 2019 although Stacey was seen in a skype call with Sean in May 2015 about a mysterious Key which revealed that Brian had been living a double life and Sean and Stacey had other sisters one of which had a sex change to a man.

2019: Brief return[]

When Jean is diagnosis with cancer in 2019 Shirley Carter issues an idea of a bucket list in which Jean thinks about and eventually comes up with the Idea of finding Sean, Shirley spots the writing Jean dotted down on a piece of paper stating "Find Sean" in which Shirley tells Stacey, Stacey layer rings Sean but Sean acts strange on the phone which worries her and eventually tells Kat that she has contacted Sean in which Kat wasn't happy about both Kat and Stacey decides Its best not to tell Jean that Sean has already been contacted and knows of her illness but Jean later finds out when Stacey snaps telling her Sean knows about her illness the same day Jack Branning texts Stacey to pick up his daughter Amy Mitchell from school when arriving at the school Stacey feels like Amy should of came out as she's taking longer then expected only for them to find out that she has already been picked up, We then see Amy in back of the car asking the question "Did my mam really send you?" in which Sean turns around and replies "Yeah!, Yeah she did".

Sean takes Amy to a café to buy her a milkshake and Sean talks about Roxy unknown to him that she is dead and not realising Amy's pain, Sean later takes Amy home to where Jack finds her and beside himself with worry and is even more shocked when he sees Sean, Jack sends Amy away as Amy leaves Jack grabs Sean and threatens him then asks him what he wants in to which Jack is shocked and taken back when Sean says his come to see Roxy, Realising Sean doesn't know Jack grabs his car keys and tells Sean to follow.

Sean and Jack pullover to a church where Sean asks him where is he taking him and also asks Jack if he is still with Ronnie Branning also not known she died with Roxy when Jack reveals to Sean they both Ronnie and Roxy are dead. Sean is sad and shocked and asked Jack what happened in which Jack explains but then puts all the blame on Roxy in which Sean does not like and eventually punches Jack to the ground In which Jack responds and a fight erupts after a quick fight Sean and Jack have a heart-to-heart in which Jack offers Sean a lift back to the square but Sean wants to spend more time in taking in the news Roxy is dead.

The next day, Sean wakes up in his car and looks in a the car mirror to which he looks upon a black eye from his fight with Jack the previous day. Later that day, Sean walks in the Vic in which Jean is shocked and happy to see him while both Kat and Stacey are shocked to see him. Ruby Allen walks in and sees Sean, walks up to him and slaps him after the way he treat her twelve and a half years previous but Sean shrugs it off and takes Jean to her appointment in during which Stacey has a go at Sean, and Jean suggests going away for them to catch up in which Sean agrees.

Jean and Sean pack off to go away, Sean takes Jean to an abandoned farmhouse supposedly been living their since returning from Ibiza the two talk and tell each other what they have been up too the last ten years in which it’s clear Sean wants to tell his mother that he is responsible for his father Brian's death but Jean cuts her leg and later feels unwell Sean manages to call an ambulance and Stacey but leaves Stacey worried by his call, Sean later locks the barn and smashes the gun cupboard and takes a shotgun after 'talking' to Roxy saying that Amy is like her and Jack has done a good job In bringing her up he plays a voicemail from when he was with Roxy in 2008, Jean and Stacey later find Sean sitting their angry he reveals to Stacey that he killed their dad to Stacey's shock after a intense arguments Jean manages to talk to Sean and Sean eventually asks for forgiveness in which Jean does forgive him for killing Brian as too does Stacey. back at the Slater's house Jean, Kat and Stacey come up with a plan to help Sean but he wants to move on and reveals to Jean he's booked himself into a mental health facility. Before Sean drives off he sees Amy and shouts her over. Jack asks Amy what Sean wanted and Amy told Jack that when she's 18 he will take her to her mother's best bar in Ibiza.

2021-2022: One-off appearances[]

Sean appeared again on 1 November 2021 after Jean asked for his help in getting rid of Stacey's new wife, Eve Unwin, although the marriage is a sham and has only been done for a favour from Stacey to Eve. He talks to Eve about how she will end up getting Stacey in trouble and her kids will be without their mother again. Eve is eventually convinced by Sean and leaves. Sean waits for Stacey to come home to speak to her and tell her what happened. Then, he leaves again telling Jean he was going to be late for his train.

Five months later, Stacey is worried that Jean is having an episode of her bipolar and calls Sean to speak to her. Sean video calls Jean, but she assures him that she is fine. Sean accepts this and sends Stacey a bouquet of flowers telling her not to worry about Jean. However, Stacey bins them.

Background information[]

  • Despite never killing anyone on-screen, it was confirmed that Sean had killed multiple times while in the army. Although this doesn't go into his kill count due to him killing to protect his country and was on army duty, therefore he wouldn't be responsible for the deaths by law.
