Summary[]

Arthur is pushed to the limit in trying to cover his tracks about his affair with Christine. He is on the phone to her when Pauline comes in and he has to pretend he is talking to a gardening associate. Rachel has been offered a job in Leeds and says she is moving away tomorrow. Clyde quits his job at the Vic. Jack smashes his head against a brick wall to injure himself so he can gain sympathy from Michelle. He says he was jumped on as he got off the bus.

Mrs. Hewitt wants to watch Aidan's first football match from the other side of the club, but Arthur will not let her because of how many people he knows.

Pauline is shocked upon seeing the cost of the latest phone bill - £160. She tells Arthur she will find out why it is so high because they have a record of everyone who they have called. Arthur snatches the bill from her hand and insists he will get onto British Telecoms himself.

Rachel receives her job acceptance letter in the post. She tries to tell Michelle the good news but Michelle is too busy.

Rose decides to file for divorce with Alfie.

Aidan's first football match success is a cause for celebration at the Vic.

Sanjay decides to play more card games with Nigel to win back the money he lost from him.

Arthur tries phoning Mrs. Hewitt from the Vic to update her on what has happened, but Pauline stands over him, so he pretends he is talking to British Telecoms.

Clyde's grief with Grant, Phil and their friends continues.

Rachel finally tells Michelle that she has the new job and will be moving to Leeds tomorrow. Michelle worries about the house and where she will live if she cannot afford to pay Rachel the mortgage payments. The pair spend the evening reminiscing about their friendship in the house together.

Jack stands outside Number 55 and then throws his body multiple times against the wall.

Clyde gives the Mitchells an ultimatum and ends up walking out of The Vic.

Mrs. Hewitt phones Arthur in the night, thinking there is a burglar in her house. Arthur rushes over, lying to Pauline and telling her it is his friend, Harry, from the allotments. When he gets there, Mrs Hewitt is calm and reserved. She tells him it was the rose bush scraping against the window and entices him to stay for a bit.

Jack turns up at No.55 with an injury to his head, telling Michelle he was jumped by some thugs. Michelle tends to the wound and informs him she knows about his encounter with Clyde the other night at The Vic. She is annoyed by his constant prying into her personal life and asks him to leave as it is late. Jack's mood changes to hostility as he resents Michelle's coldness towards him and complies only after she demands that he leave immediately.
